Our house clearance team were tasked with emptying a flat in Wimbledon.
Date: September 2018
Go Clearance was contacted by a local estate agent who has used the team for several previous jobs for a property clearance in Wimbledon, South West London. The previous tenant had vacated the property leaving a large number of possessions in the property and having been given adequate time to collect all the remaining items, it was time for the flat to be emptied.
The Wombles of Wimbledon!
As Wimbledon is the home of the Wombles, it was great to get the job of emptying and tidying this first floor flat ready for it to be updated and let out to the new tenant. As well as removing all the furniture and furnishings, much like Great Uncle Bulgaria, Tobermory and the rest of the Womble gang, we endeavoured to salvage and recycle as many items as we could.
With parking in the area very limited, the customer sorted out a permit for the day so we could remove all the contents of the flat outside without any worry of parking charges or causing any disruption to local residents. A flat of this size would only require one full van load to remove all the contents.
The main bedroom had a large wardrobe and a double bed and mattress that needed to be taken safely downstairs and disposed of, which then freed up more room to sort through the sacks of clothing and possessions left in the flat. The next room had several pieces of furniture including a desk, some sideboards and chairs which were all donated to the nearby charity shop. We were also tasked with emptying out the kitchen including the white goods which were disposed of at a local commercial recycling site as they were too worn and old to be sold on.
Flat Clearance Specialists
Flats, although smaller than houses can be tricky to organise and empty efficiently. Our experience has taught us the best & safest way to remove large items of furniture & lift them down tight staircases. The Go Clearance team are a professional outfit with many years of property clearance underneath our belts. As the property on this occasion was located on the first floor with good access it was no problem for the team to remove any large and heavy items.
With limited space in a flat, it can be tricky to sort bedding, clothing, bric-a-brac or similar items so once the larger furnishings were loaded into the van it freed up some space for a good sort. The vast majority of clothes were reusable so were donated to the local charity shop by the client.
Responsible Disposal of House Clearance Contents
Where possible the Go Clearance team recycle and donate as much of the contents from a house or flat clearance and anything left over is disposed of responsibly as we are of course registered with the Environmental Agency.
On this occasion, the vast majority of items were suitable to give away to the charity shop leaving the property empty ready for some much-needed renovation and modernisation.
